A Finite Zitterbewegung Model for Relativistic Quantum Mechanics*
نویسنده
چکیده
-. Starting from steps of length h/me and time intervals h/mc2, which imply a quasi-local Zitterbewe.quny with velocity steps fc, we employ discrimination between bit-strings of finite length to construct a necessarily 3+1 dimensional eventspace for relativistic quantum mechanics. By using the combinatorial hierarchy to label the strings, we provide a successful start on constructing the coupling constants and mass ratios implied by the scheme. Agreement with experiment is surprisingly accurate.

Zitterbewegung of nearly-free and tightly bound electrons in semiconductors
We show theoretically that nonrelativistic nearly-free electrons in solids should experience a trembling motion (Zitterbewegung, ZB) in absence of external fields, similarly to relativistic electrons in vacuum. The Zitterbewegung is directly related to the influence of periodic potential on the free electron motion. The frequency of ZB is ω ≈ Eg/h̄, where Eg is the energy gap. The amplitude of Z...
متن کاملZitterbewegung and semiclassical observables for the Dirac equation
In a semiclassical context we investigate the Zitterbewegung of relativistic particles with spin 1/2 moving in external fields. It is shown that the analogue of Zitterbewegung for general observables can be removed to arbitrary order in ~ by projecting to dynamically almost invariant subspaces of the quantum mechanical Hilbert space which are associated with particles and anti-particles. This n...
متن کاملThe Dirac Oscillator. A relativistic version of the Jaynes–Cummings model
The dynamics of wave packets in a relativistic Dirac oscillator is compared to that of the Jaynes-Cummings model. The strong spin-orbit coupling of the Dirac oscillator produces the entanglement of the spin with the orbital motion similar to what is observed in the model of quantum optics. The collapses and revivals of the spin which result extend to a relativistic theory our previous findings ...

متن کاملVelocity Field and Operator for Spinning Particles in (non-relativistic) Quantum Mechanics
Starting from the formal expressions of the hydrodynamical (or “local”) quantities employed in the applications of Clifford Algebras to quantum mechanics, we introduce —in terms of the ordinary tensorial framework— a new definition for the field of a generic quantity. By translating from Clifford into tensor algebra, we also propose a new (non-relativistic) velocity operator for a spin 1 2 part...
